It’s been a long time coming but, finally, Kesha has been nominated at the Grammy Awards. She has definitely seen her fair share of struggles in her career and the singer can’t help but rejoice after being recognized for her most personal, revealing effort to-date.
Kesha’s Rainbow is nominated for Best Pop Vocal Album and her haunting, emotional single “Praying,” has received a nod in the Best Pop Vocal Performance category. When TMZ caught up with her at LAX recently, they asked her how it felt to be nominated and her response was priceless: “F****** amazing!”
While Dr. Luke, with whom she has a horribly contentious history, was in charge of her career, she was making songs like “Tik Tok” and “We R Who We R” and that’s great but it really didn’t highlight her real, raw undeniable talent.
If you listen to the album, it’s clearly her own declaration of independence and her way of saying that she’s taking her power back after, what she says has been, a dark time. On top of being recognized by the Grammy Awards, it doesn’t hurt that other celebrities have come forward to say that working with Dr. Luke has been less than pleasant.
Keep on truckin’, Kesha! You are an inspiration to women everywhere!
