Can you smell what The Rock is cooking? If you think his latest recipe has the distinct aroma of a presidential campaign and steady poll numbers, you aren’t imagining things. If he were to run for President of the United States right now, he’d have a decent chance at winning, according to some reports.
A new national poll from Public Policy Polling shows that if Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson ran against current president, Donald Trump, in 2020 he’d likely win with a 42 to 37 margin which includes 15 percent of the people who say they voted for Trump in 2016.
See that? He’s more than just People’s 2016 Sexiest Man Alive! He’s bridging the gap and gaining support from both sides of the aisle… but would he actually do it?
In a recent GQ interview, he actually said: “I think that it’s a real possibility.”
WHAT?! COULD THIS REALLY BE HAPPENING!? We guess it shouldn’t be too much of a surprise. Former Western movies star, Ronald Reagan, was president. The Terminator was governor of California and now the former star of The Apprentice is using his catchphrase – “you’re fired” – on official people up in Washington, D.C.
Johnson went on to say: “A year ago, it started coming up more and more. There was a real sense of earnestness, which made me go home and think, ‘Let me really rethink my answer and make sure I am giving an answer that is truthful and also respectful.’ I didn’t want to be flippant — ‘We’ll have three days off for a weekend! No taxes!’”
Wow! Well, if he’s taking it seriously then we should too. Who will he pick as a running mate? Will Oprah join the race and battle against The Rock? Would she run with him? So many possibilities! If nothing else, Trump has proven that anything is possible, right?
